60 Mins. Mainly colour. Narration. The Great Central London Extension was the last main line built in England and closed as a through route from Aylesbury to Nottingham in 1966. Features a complete journey from Marylebone to Nottingham Victoria with a brief look at the line north of Nottingham through Chesterfield to the Wodhead route. The connections to the Great Central at Banbury and Aylesbury to Princes Risborough are also included. Latterly, passenger trains were in the hands of Black Fives, but previously there were LNER V2s, B1 and L1s classes, and 9Fs. Britannias are also seen along with GWR Halls, especially at Banbury.
