90 Mins. Mostly colour. Narration. Starting at Waterloo before heading out to Vauxhall, Clapham Junction, Nine Elms shed and Woking before visiting Guildford and its shed. The onwards to Chertsey, Virginia Water, Ascot, North Camp, and Alton. Motive power seen included Bulleid Pacifics, BR Standards, Schools 4-4-0s and King Artur 4-6-0s. Turning to Sussex, there are visits to Rowfant, Rotherfield, Hellingly, Keymer Junction, Hassocks, Clayton Tunnel, Slinfold and Newhaven and a journey on the Horsham to Brighton line with an E4 tank. In Kent, the Dunton Green to Westerham branch is worked by an H Class just before closure in 1961. Then , at Wincheste both stations are seen before travelling onwards to Eastleigh for visits to both the works and shed. There follows Southampton for a tour of the dock system including the Ocean Terminal. Double-headed USA tanks head a train to Southampton terminus and then along the banch to Fawley. There are then brief scenes on the Isle of Wight in 1961, Hayling Island in 1963 and on to Brockenhurst which included the era when M7s worked through to Lymington. Moving further west, places visited included Christchurch, Bournemouth, Wareham, the Swangae branch and Weymouth together with some images on the S&D. Further west and in to 'Withered Arm' territory, the Z 0-8-0s were in banking duty at Exeter, the steeply graded line between Braunton and Ilfracmbe is shown along with the Beattie tanks at Wadebridge and Boscarne Junction. Southern locomotives are also seen away from the home region at locations such as Reading, Reading Central Goods, Oxford, Wellingborough, Stratford-upon-Avon, Leamington, Rugby and Banbury. Motive power included Bulleid Pacfics, Q1, U, N, H, S15, USA, M7, A1X, B4, C, E4, E6, K, N15, O2, LN, V, H16, Z, 0298, 73XXX, 75XXX, 76XXX, 412XX, 80XXX and 82XXX classes and more.
