The restoration was completed just in time for the 150th Anniversay of the driving of the Golden Spike at Promontory, Utah to commerate the completion of the first transcontinental railroad in 1869 that united a nation from east to west. Paired with UP 844, the only steam locomotive never to be taken out of active service on a major railroad, 4014 made its first excursion run between Cheyenne, Wyoming and Ogden, Utah for the celebrations. which were attended by thousands. An equal number lined the route on both the outward and retun journeys and this production provides a front seat to the greatest railroading event for over 60 years.
